The Top Five Plays From The NBA Finals

The Boston Celtics won their league-leading 18th NBA Championship on Monday after taking down the Dallas Mavericks in Game 5. Now that the Finals is officially over we can look back at some of the top plays from the series.

Boston Celtics Finals MVP Jaylen Brown

5. Dante Exum's Dunk In Game 3 Of The NBA Finals

My jaw dropped when I saw Dante Exum come down the lane and size up Jayson Tatum. The Mavericks players and fans needed something to get them motivated and juiced up after losing the first two games of the NBA Finals and is there a better way than a poster on Jayson Tatum early in the first quarter? What makes this dunk even better is that Exum played just two minutes and this dunk was his only bucket of the game.

4. Luka Doncic Alley Oop To Daniel Gafford In Game 4 Of The NBA Finals

In a game where the Mavericks offense was clicking all night, it seemed fitting that they would have some flashy plays like this. Luka’s defense was in question all series, but his offense and playmaking were on full display like this feed to Gafford.

Bonus footage of Gafford getting it done on both ends of the court as he blocks a Tatum three-pointer on the next possession.

3. Payton Pritchard's Half Court Shot In Game 5 Of The NBA Finals

It is hard to say a shot at the end of the first half is a “dagger” as that is something that normally happens in the final minute or so of a game, but this shot sure felt like it ended the Mavericks season with two quarters still left to play.

Not only was the shot amazing, but announcer Mike Breen saying that Pritchard “loves these” types of shots and the Celtics bench celebrating before the ball was even on the way down made this ten times better. Also, enjoy the several different angles and reactions from players and fans.

2. Derrick White's Block In Game 2 Of The NBA Finals

This game was close the entire way, but Boston was able to pull ahead late in the fourth quarter. PJ Washington had a fast break chance to cut the lead to one possession, but White flew out of nowhere for the rejection, sealing the game with 50 seconds left.

White is the definition of a “glue guy.” He was doing it all the entire Finals and came up with several big blocks like this.

1. Jaylen Brown's Dunk In Game 1 Of The NBA Finals

As stated before, Luka’s defense was nowhere to be found all series and Brown exploited that on his initial move and blew right past him and Derrick Jones. After getting through the first level of defense Brown was met at the rim by two Mavs players and absolutely bodied them with an all-time one-hand slam. It was like a freight train coming down the tracks, just no way of stopping it.

The Finals MVP put on a dunking clinic the entire series and I think he should consider giving the dunk contest another go.
