These Players Give The Patriots A Bright Future Going Forward

Updated: Sep 10, 2023

These young players on the Patriots’ roster gives them a very bright future

While New England has not had the ideal season in 2022, there have been numerous players who have shown star potential. The Patriots have done a great job drafting throughout the last few seasons, and they have a good young core heading into the future. Here are the players that give New England a very bright future.

Rhamondre Stevenson

Rhamondre Stevenson started to flash his potential towards the end of last year. Stevenson had a fumble in the first game against the Dolphins, and saw his opportunities on the field decrease. Towards the end of the year, Rhamondre started to get a lot more opportunity and he started to breakout. Stevenson finished his rookie year with 606 rushing yards. Rhamondre had large expectations entering the 2022 season, and he has certainly delivered. Rhamondre has emerged as the clear number one running back for New England, and he has even carved out a big role in the passing game.

Rhamondre so far in 2022 has 944 rushing yards, averaging 4.8 yards per carry. These numbers are even more impressive considering the poor play from the Patriots’ offensive line. Rhamondre has a total of 414 yards after contact this year. Stevenson has also become very reliable in the short passing game, with 384 receiving yards this year. While the Patriots’ offense has struggled this year, Rhamondre Stevenson has broke out. With New England likely replacing their offensive coordinator next year, Rhamondre Stevenson has superstar potential.

Marcus Jones

When New England departed with J.C. Jackson, the Patriots drafted Marcus Jones in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft. Entering the 2022 season, how New England’s cornerbacks would play was a large question mark. So far into the 2022 season, Marcus Jones has shown star potential. Jones has carved out a good role with returning punts, and he has the notable return against the Jets which won the game for the Patriots. Jones has had good play at the cornerback position as well, with two interceptions on the year, and one returned for a touchdown.

Marcus Jones has also been seen on some offensive snaps, and he has dynamic talent. Marcus Jones caught two passes for 51 yards against the Bills, even taking a short pass for a touchdown. Marcus Jones has been used in numerous ways for New England, and he is the dynamic playmaker the Patriots lack. Marcus Jones going into the future will be a very great player for New England.

Josh Uche

In the 2020 NFL Draft, New England needed an effective pass rusher, and they drafted Josh Uche from Michigan. Throughout his first two seasons, a combination of injuries and New England not playing him much limited Uche. Uche recorded one sack during his first year, and three in his second year. This year, New England has unleashed Josh Uche fully. Josh Uche has broken out this year. Uche is tied for the tenth most sacks in the league this year, with 11.5. Uche has formed an elite duo with other star Matthew Judon.

If Josh Uche is able to build on this season, it would help New England’s defense significantly. Uche’s ability to be an elite pass rusher has translated to the NFL, and he should see an increased role going forward. The Patriots needed more development from their linebackers, and Uche has certainly produced.
