These Two Players Will Make Or Break A Celtics Championship Push

The Celtics have added Kristaps Porzingis to their team, but for the Celtics to win a championship, these two players must provide production.

Robert Williams

Robert Williams is the best shot blocker the Celtics have. Robert Williams is a great lob threat on offense and he’s a good passing center. When Robert Williams missed the first part of the year Boston struggled on defense. Since Robert Williams returned Boston looked like an elite defense again. Robert William’s defense is one of the biggest factors that can determine how far the Celtics make it this year, especially with Kristaps Porzingis being more of an offensive threat and Al Horford aging.

The Eastern Conference is featured with numerous star centers, and Boston will likely need to go through those teams to make the finals. Players like Giannis, Bam Adebayo, Joel Embiid, and the Cavaliers with Jarrett Allen and Evan Mobley are all dangerous teams. If the Celtics can limit the other team's centers they have a very good chance to beat them. Robert William's defense will significantly help or hurt a playoff push.

Malcolm Brogdon

The Celtics struggled to generate points in the 2021 finals against the Warriors. When Jayson Tatum had a bad game the entire team would struggle. The Celtics for this reason swung a trade and acquired Malcolm Brogdon. Brogdon has been a huge addition as his playmaking and defensive ability have fit right in with the Celtics. Brogdon brings a scoring punch off the bench that Boston has not had in a while.

Brogdon provided a consistent 15 points per game off of 44% from three, and he was a very good playoff contributor until he got injured in the second round. With Marcus Smart gone, Brogdon is going to be relied upon significantly more. The current point guard duo of Derrick White and Malcolm Brogdon is an elite one. Derrick White, while breaking out, shouldn't be consistently relied on to provide consistent scoring.

White is more of an elite defensive player who can be a massive scorer on any given night, but Brogdon is more of an offensive threat who can consistently provide a spark with his amazing three-point shooting. Having a scoring punch of Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, and Kristaps Porzingis is an elite one. On top of that, having Brogdon come off the bench is what can set the Celtics apart.
