These Unbelievable NBA Stars Could Be Traded In The Summer
Updated: Sep 10, 2023
Two potential NBA stars who could see themselves becoming available in trades during this off-season.
Numerous teams have made aggressive pushes through trades this season in hopes of contending. However, with expectation can come disappointment. These following teams have underachieved or will potentially underachieve, resulting in moves being made. Here are two stars who could get traded after this season.
Zach Lavine
The Bulls have made numerous aggressive moves over the last few seasons. Some include trading for multiple stars in Demar Derozan, and Nikola Vuecevic, and signing Lonzo Ball. The Bulls were the number one seed last year, but injuries to Alex Caruso and Lonzo ball led them to fall to the sixth seed. They were later eliminated in round one. This year, The Bulls have been out of the playoffs for the entire season, and they are in the play-in tournament range. The Bulls aren’t contenders and there have been rumors they may trade Demar and Zach Lavine.
Zach Lavine broke out over the last three years, averaging between 24-27 points per game. His play got him a new extension; five years 215 million. This was given with the hope the Bulls can be contenders. With Vuecevic soon hitting free agency and Demar Derozan signing a three-year deal while playing two seasons already, Lavine might be on the trade block.
Zach Lavine is a star but not a number-one option. Lavine can fetch multiple first-round picks and young assets, so it might be best to trade Lavine. The Bulls are not contenders with Zach Lavine, so trading the star for a haul would make the most sense.
Chris Paul
Chris Paul has yet to win a championship despite being a surefire hall of Famer. The Suns acquired Chris Paul in hopes of getting someone who could provide a veteran presence and lead them, and he sure has done that. Paul in his first year in 2021 has averaged 17 points with nine assists on 50% from the field and 40% from three. The Suns made the finals that year but they lost to the eventual champs the Bucks.
After his first season, Paul signed a four-year deal worth $120,000,000. Paul in his second year regressed going to 15 points on 49% from the field and 31% from three. Paul was 36 at the time and showed signs of aging. This year, Paul has fallen off a lot. Chris Paul is averaging 13 points on 43% from the field and 36% from three.
Paul is still an elite playmaker and leader, but at this point, the regression is clearly showing. With the Suns having Kevin Durant and Devin Booker already, they may look to trade Chris Paul to get away from his contract. The Suns offered Chris Paul in a deal for Kyrie Irving which the Nets ultimately rejected.
The Suns have shown a willingness to move off of Chris Paul, and they may look at exploring options in the off-season. The Suns have also reportedly been interested in Kyrie Irving, who would replace Paul. Paul would be a good fit for a team with an established star looking for a veteran presence.
