This 5th-Round NFL Draft Pick Will Break Out In 2024
The New York Giants have had an interesting offseason. They lost Saquon Barkley and replaced him with Devin Singletary. Barkley leaves a massive hole, but the Giants aren’t completely down. In the 5th round of the 2024 NFL Draft the Giants drafted Tyrone Tracy Jr., and he's joining at the perfect time.
Tracy isn’t turning any heads yet, but he has the talent to be a huge playmaker in the NFL. He started college as a wide receiver and would later transition to running back. He's a strong runner who can keep his balance well and power through contact. He was also a starting kick returner at Purdue and showed great body control in his movements. These varying skills give him a "swiss army knife" element that can round out the Giants' backfield.
Tracy joins Devin Singletary and Eric Gray in the backfield this year. Singletary earned the nickname "Motor" for his resiliency and consistency on the field. Gray proved himself to be a very reliable backup as a rookie in 2023. The Giants have been revamping their offensive line, and they’ve got 3 running backs who run hard and don’t stay down. There are questions around QB Daniel Jones, and there’s a strong chance the Giants lean on a dependable run game if he underperforms.
Tracy impressed the team immediately by quickly returning from a scary training camp injury. He has no football-related surgeries under his belt, which is an excellent example of his resilience. His experience as a wide receiver also makes him a great dual threat. He's got all the tools to contribute to this struggling offense.
The Giants are in a good spot offensively. The offensive line is promising and the wide receiver room is sneaky good, especially with Malik Nabers joining the club. Tyrone Tracy is a perfect fit for this offense, and he brings toughness to a team lacking in that department. Now it’s time for him to break out in a major way.
