This Browns Running Back Just Retired
The Cleveland Browns are known to be one of the best-rushing teams in all of football. Headlined by Nick Chubb with contributors Jerome Ford and Kareem Hunt, the team has always relied on a strong running game. But one of their former well-known running backs has retired from the NFL after eight seasons in the league.
Duke Johnson Calls It A Career After Eight Seasons In The NFL
Former Browns running back Duke Johnson has hung up his cleats. The former third-round pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, who was selected 77th overall, has called it a career. Johnson spent four years in Cleveland from 2015-2018. While he only started ten games in the orange and brown, he did rush for over 1,000 total yards and had 400+ receiving yards in every season with the team.
One of the few running backs to end his career with more receiving yards than rushing yards, Johnson signed with the Texans in 2019 where he would rack up 600+ rushing and receiving yards in the two seasons in H-Town.
You probably heard Duke Johnson's name last in 2021, when he played for the Miami Dolphins. He ran for a career-high 107 rushing yards and two touchdowns in a big win against the Jets in late December. He would finish his career in Buffalo where he only played one game with the Bills. He did not play in the 2023 NFL season.
Duke Johnson finishes his NFL career with a respectable 5,135 total yards, 23 touchdowns, and one playoff appearance. While he was a good player on the field, he was even better off the field. In 2015, Johnson hosted a charity bowling event, where he bowled and raised money to give back to South Florida communities. He also runs the Duke Johnson Foundation as well.
