This Future NFL Hall Of Fame Quarterback Just Retired
The Atlanta Falcons' best quarterback in franchise history has just called it a career. On Monday, former Falcons and Colts quarterback Matt Ryan announced his retirement, signing a one-day contract to retire as an Atlanta Falcon. The 38-year-old will be remembered as an all-time great in the ATL, and he hopes to make the NFL Pro Football Hall of Fame in the years to come.
Former Falcons and Colts quarterback Matt Ryan has not stepped on the field since the end of the 2022 NFL season, but he waited until now to retire after he could collect his huge check of guaranteed money from the Colts. He is enjoying his new career in broadcasting with CBS Sports.
Matt Ryan Will Be Eligible For 2029 Hall Of Fame Class
Matt Ryan will be eligible to join the Hall Of Fame Class of 2029, along with the legendary defensive tackle Aaron Donald and center Jason Kelce. Some may argue he has not done enough to be enshrined in Canton, Ohio.
While many have debated whether the 38-year-old should be part of that class, the committee will very well take a look at his career. Even if it is not the first ballot, he deserves a shot to make it to Canton.
Matt Ryan Had A Great NFL Career
Matt Ryan played in the NFL from 2008-2022, playing 14 seasons for the Atlanta Falcons before finishing his final season in Indianapolis. The PA native has a wife and three sons who have supported him throughout his football career.
The former Boston College standout threw 62,792 yards, 381 touchdowns, and a 93.6 passer rating. He won NFL MVP in 2016 and led the Atlanta Falcons to Super Bowl LI, where the team fell to the New England Patriots 34-28 in overtime.
