This Top NY Rangers Prospect Is Dealing With A Serious Injury
The New York Rangers are a very good team. Not only do they have a good present, but they have a solid future as well. They have a solid prospect pool, including Gabriel Perrault, EJ Emery, Brett Bernard, and many more. Out of the bunch, the top prospect in their team is forward Brennan Othmann, who almost made the NHL roster the past few seasons.
The Rangers took Othmann with the 16th overall pick in the 2021 NHL Draft, and he is currently one the highest-ranked prospect on the roster. His future is bright, but there is some bad news, he is injured.
Othmann is currently on the AHL Hartford Wolf Pack, which is NY Rangers affiliated. He was playing against the Bridgeport Isanders, and at some point in that game, he took a fall to the ice. Othmann was grabbing his wrist through most of the 2nd period until he got off the ice. He did not return to that game.
Othman is expected to be out for 4-6 weeks as a result, due to an "upper-body injury". The NHL has to change this injury classification system, because it's way too vague. In regards to specifics, it looks like a wrist injury, and it sucks that he suffered it. However, the organization needs to take it slow with his recovery, as with his bright future, it would suck if the team rushed him from injury.
Othmann was super hot, and was going to get called up at some point this season. After all, he was close to making the opening night roster for the Rangers this season, but he was sent back down to the AHL when the preseason ended. It's a big blow to the Hartford squad, but with the solid prospect core, the organization has and some AHL veterans they should hold up until he is ready to go.
