Three Bold Predictions For Eagles @ Giants In Week 7

The Philadelphia Eagles head to MetLife Stadium to take on their division rival, the New York Giants; since 2020, the Birds have been 5-3 against the Giants and are 4-1 in the last five matchups. This is Philly's first NFC East matchup of the season, and it should result in a win. Here are three bold predictions for the divisional clash:

DeVonta Smith Finds The End Zone Twice

DeVonta Smith has had great success against the Giants in his four-year career. He has 312 yards and three touchdowns in five career games against the divisional foes. He also had 61 yards and a touchdown in the Eagles' 38-7 playoff win over the Giants in the 2022 postseason. Smith didn't play in last year's Week 18 27-10 loss as the Eagles were gearing up for the playoffs.

Smith has two touchdown grabs in four games in 2024, including a 45-yard touchdown in the Week 6 win over the Cleveland Browns. The Giants' defense has allowed 1,343 receiving yards and seven receiving touchdowns through the team's first six games of the season.

The Eagles are fortunate enough to have one of the top receiving duos in the NFL, Smith and A.J. Brown. AJ garners a lot of attention, creating favorable opportunities for Smith. Don't be surprised if the Slim Reaper has another great game against the Giants.

Saquon Barkley Has 175+ Scrimmage Yards

Saquon Barkley has been everything the Eagles could've imagined since joining the team as a free agent before the 2024 season. The Week 7 matchup against the Giants will be Barkley's first game playing his former team, where he spent the first six years of his career. It will also be his first time playing in front of the Giants' home crowd as a member of another team.

It's hard to imagine this game not being circled on Barkley's calendar. The Giants didn't offer Barkley what he wanted to remain in New York, which created some drama as seen on HBO's Hard Knocks.

In seven seasons, Barkley has four career games of 175 or more scrimmage yards. The former No. 2 overall pick has the talent to do so and has come close to that mark multiple times in his career. The Giants' defense is tied for the second most yards per carry allowed this season and will have their hands full with Brown and Smith, which should also create opportunities for Barkley in the receiving game. Barkley is the No. 4 leading rusher in the NFL this season and has 92 receiving yards to go along with his production on the ground.

Bryce Huff Records A Sack For The Eagles

Bryce Huff has been a disappointment to begin his Eagles career. Before the season, general manager Howie Roseman signed the former New York Jet to a three-year, $51.1 million contract in free agency. It was a bit of a gamble because Huff was an undrafted free agent, but he enjoyed a breakout season with 10 sacks in 2023.

The Giants have allowed 14 sacks this season, tied for the ninth-most allowed in the league. The Eagles' defense had six sacks through the first four weeks before a five-sack performance against the Cleveland Browns in Week 6. Huff is coming off his best game as an Eagle, where he recorded 0.5 sacks and two combined tackles. The Giants could be without left tackle Andrew Thomas after he suffered a foot injury on Sunday Night Football.
