Three Fresno State Football Defensive Players to Watch
The Fresno State Bulldogs are coming off a 10-4 season, and they went 7-1 in the Mountain West Conference. The Bulldogs had the No.14th scoring defense in college football.
The Bulldogs gave up 19.4 points per game and had one of the better passing defenses, giving up just 189.4 yards per game. Fresno State returns seven starters on defense as they will look to lead them to another successful season.
Devo Bridges, Defensive Line, Senior
Devo Bridges led the Bulldogs in sacks with 11.5; he also had 47 total tackles with 16 for a loss. Bridges is one of the most versatile defensive linemen in the country.
He can play defensive end and defensive tackle. Bridges was named the Jimmy Kimmel LA Bowl Defensive MVP against Washington State and had a career-high eight tackles, along with two tackles for a loss and two sacks.
Levelle Bailey, Linebacker, Senior
Levelle Bailey led the Bulldogs in tackles last season with 88. He also has 5.5 tackles for a loss and seven passes defended.
Bailey's 88 total tackles were the 11th most by any player in the Mountain West last season and ranked in the top 15 among all tacklers in the Mountain West (tackles per game). Bailey was selected as a team captain four games into the season.
Cam Lockridge, Cornerback, Senior
Cam Lockridge came over for the University of Hawaii and played well for Fresno State last season, leading the team in interceptions with five. Lockridge turned one of those interceptions for a touchdown while adding 39 tackles, three for a loss, one sack, and nine passes defended.
Lockridge won the Mountain West Conference Game Defensive MVP in Fresno State's 28-16 win over Boise State. Lockridge has three tackles, two interceptions, and one pass defended.
