Three Players Who Impressed in Week Four

Monday night saw the 49ers overwhelm the Los Angeles Rams en route to a 24-9 victory. Who impressed in this game? Here are three names to talk about.

The San Francisco 49ers were in a must-win situation against the Los Angeles Rams. In this game, the NFL world saw the San Francisco pass rush overwhelm a beaten-down Rams offensive line. With seven sacks and over 30 pressures, the 49ers had their most impressive performance of the season. Talanoa Hufanga added his first career pick-six in another wonderful performance by the 49ers secondary.

Jimmy Garoppolo, played much better in his second start of the season compared to last week against the Broncos. Garoppolo was composed and his arm looked far more like Jimmy of old. The 49ers who also had a beaten-up offensive line, gave up zero sacks with Mike McGlinchey having his best game of the season with no pressures allowed.

The stars for the 49ers shined bright last night. With the game being the night’s only game, all 32 teams and millions of people saw the 49ers’ defense handle Sean McVay and the Rams.

Throughout the game, many 49ers were impressive. However, these three were a step above everyone else.

49ers Wide Receiver, Deebo Samuel

Deebo Samuel is back. After a slow start to the season, Deebo broke out in Week four.

Deebo had his first 100-yard receiving game of the season with incredible plays mixed in. This play was on a third down. Deebo caught the pass from Garoppolo and did the rest on what could be the play of the NFL season so far.

As you see, he made an incredible leaping catch over the Rams corner and took it to the house, breaking multiple tackles along the way and making Jalen Ramsey look foolish.

Later in the game, he took another screen pass on a third and 13 and gained 20-plus yards. The screen game was on Monday night, and Deebo, one of the best players in the league, was on as well.

It was a pleasant development for a San Francisco offense still trying to find its identity after the change to Jimmy Garoppolo as the new starting quarterback after the season-ending injury to Trey Lance in Week Two.

49ers Pass Rusher, Nick Bosa

Nick Bosa was special in Week Four. With two sacks and 14 pressures, Bosa is now the league leader in sacks (6) and pressures (30). Bosa makes the Niners’ defense special. Four years into his career, he is well on his way to being one of the best defensive players the franchise has ever had.

He took advantage of a Rams offensive line that was struggling throughout the night.

With six sacks in four games, Bosa is on pace for an NFL record 25 sacks. If Bosa stays healthy, the 49ers’ pass rush will be deadly. As things currently stand, Nick Bosa should be the favorite for NFL Defensive Player of the Year. He is the best player on currently the best defense in the entire league.

49ers Offensive Guard, Aaron Banks

Coming into the season, Aaron Banks was an enigma. Nobody knew what to expect. As a second-round pick in the 2021 NFL draft, Banks played a total of 5 snaps last year. So far this year, he’s shown why the 49ers drafted him.

He’s been playing really good football. Watch him on this touchdown run by Jeff Wilson.

Having transformed his body over the offseason, Banks looks fast and explosive. Was he perfect on Monday night? No, but he’s improving week by week and is looking like another nice pick by John Lynch and company.
