Three Reasons The Cowboys Will Get Revenge On Sunday

The Dallas Cowboys are out for revenge on Sunday. Last season they came up just short against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. This season things are going to be different. Have The tables really turned?

Revenge runs deep and primal in human beings. We all want revenge in one way or another. Maybe a bully from school days, maybe a boss or co-worker, or maybe even a neighbor. Everyone has that dark fantasy of getting their revenge someday.

The Cowboys have a chance to fulfill their dark revenge fantasy on Sunday. They had a game slip through their fingers last year in Tampa Bay to begin the season. They made the classic mistake of giving Tom Brady too much time after taking the lead. Tampa escaped with a 31-29 win. This time it’s in Dallas, and it’s going to be different with revenge on their minds.

Dak Always Plays Well in September

Dak Prescott is a competitor. He’s the kind of guy who remembers games like last year. I would not be surprised at all if he had this game circled on his calendar the first time he saw the schedule come out with revenge on his mind as well. There’s a part of him that want’s to prove he can compete with the best. He’s going to be ready on Sunday night.

I'm just going to leave this here… https://t.co/StLNIqw3c5 — Evan Moore 🇺🇸🇺🇦🏀🏀🏀🏀🏀 (@MooreHoops727) September 8, 2022

September success is something Cowboys fans have gotten used to. It’s one of the few things they can count on anymore. This has been going on for some time now. As you can see from the chart above, Dak is carrying on the tradition. This bodes well for Sunday night, like I said, Dak will be ready.

This Defense Is A Year Older And Wiser

If this defense was getting long in the tooth then turning a year older could be a bad thing. Thankfully it’s still relatively young so a year older is most likely going to help this defense. They have improved at the defensive line and linebacker corps. Dan Quinn even had the second-stringers looking pretty good in the preseason. I personally have a ton of faith in this defense this season. They have the potential to be an all-time defense if they can avoid injuries to key players.

It looks like the Cowboys hit big again with a defensive rookie. Sam Williams looks like he’s the real deal. They are also welcoming back Jabril Cox and Leighton Vander Esch from injury at linebacker. That front seven should be strong.

The Cowboys Have The Better Running Game

The Buccaneers do have Tom Brady and a really good defense, but their running game is suspect. They also lost three interior linemen in the offseason to add to their woes with the running game. This plays into the Cowboys’ hands. Micah Parsons can wreak havoc on the inside and probably practically stuff that mediocre run game by himself.

Now I’m not going to deny that the Cowboys will have a difficult time running on Tampa as well. That is their strength after all, but the Cowboys should have some success simply based on the versatility of their running backs. They also have good ol’ Zack Martin to run behind despite losing Tyron Smith and having to start the rookie Tyler Smith at left tackle.

There has been a lot of talk coming from Cowboys camp about how they have been trying to work in more formations with both Ezekiel Elliot and Tony Pollard on the field at the same time. This could make for some success against a strong defense like Tampa Bay because it could potentially give the Cowboys an advantage of deception. If both of them are on the field together it’s harder for the defense to know which one will get the ball.

Lastly, the Cowboys are just plain due. They haven’t ever beaten Tom Brady. It’s got to happen sometime. C’mon football Gods. Throw us a bone.

My Prediction: Cowboys 24 Buccaneers 20
