Timberwolves Star Anthony Edwards 'Impressed' By Surprising Teammate
Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards captured his first international honor by winning a gold medal with Team USA in the men's basketball competition at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
The shooting guard was a member of a star-studded roster featuring several all-time greats, but one particular player stood out to him among the rest of the squad.
Edwards said he was impressed with Phoenix Suns star Devin Booker throughout the tournament during an appearance with Kevin Durant at the Fanatics Fest event last Saturday, August 17 at the Javits Center in New York City.
“Steph [Curry] had great games, he [Kevin Durant] had great games, Bron [LeBron James] had great games, but Book was guarding the best player, turning down shots, Book [can] go for seventy, not gonna lie, I was impressed watching him,” the 23-year-old told event host and former NBA player Jalen Rose.
Edwards previously expressed that he greatly enjoyed playing for Team USA in the Paris Olympics, where he spent a lot of time with his all-time favorite player, Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant.
“I can’t speak on that. I can only speak on what I got around my neck right now… This was the most fun I ever had playing basketball,” the former first overall pick stated.
Steve Kerr's Huge Praise To Devin Booker
Edwards' comments follow Team USA and Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr's statement after their gold medal game win over France on August 10.
“Devin Booker is an incredible basketball player. Nobody asked about him. He was our unsung MVP. I just wanted to say that.”
Booker has earned significant praise for his relentless defensive effort, dedication to the team concept, selfless play on the offensive end by not hunting for his own shots, and outstanding execution of his role for the team.
