Top 5 Fantasy Football Quarterbacks

As the NFL season inches closer, fantasy football leagues begin to start up. Every year some players perform to their draft position, are an absolute bust, or surprise everyone and help a team become a league winner.

With that being said, below are the top five quarterbacks to draft in fantasy this year.

5. Kyler Murray

Kyler Murray is the sleeper on this list as he is projected to be around the 10th-best fantasy QB.

A reason for that is he only played eight games last season after tearing his ACL in 2022, but he is fully healthy and will look to return to a top-three fantasy quarterback like he was in 2020. He is still one of the most talented players in the league and can do it on the ground and through the air like Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen.

The Cardinals have an incredible talent in rookie Marvin Harrison Jr. who will immediately be Murray’s favorite target. Trey McBride is also projected to finish as a top-four tight end.

4. Jalen Hurts

Jalen Hurts was a touchdown vulture last season running in 15 touchdowns while averaging only 2.6 yards per rushing touchdown. Saquon Barkley will take some of the rushing touchdowns away, but where Hurts loses points in rushing he will improve in passing.

Last year the Eagles’ offense completely fell apart in the latter half of the season. Hurts was banged up, the play-calling was predictable, and the team had internal issues. That will all change this season as Kellen Moore will be taking over the play-calling.

Moore, who was the offensive coordinator for the Chargers last season, will help make the Eagles a top-five offense in the league which will help Hurts be a top quarterback off draft boards.

3. Patrick Mahomes

Patrick Mahomes had a “down” year in the 2023 regular season with 4,183 passing yards and 27 touchdowns, but that will not happen again this year. The Chiefs were more run-heavy than they had been in previous seasons and as a result, Mahomes threw 51 fewer passes than he did in 2022.

The additions of Marquise Brown and rookie Xavier Worthy will help Mahomes get back to his normal MVP self. Not to mention, Mahomes still has Travis Kelce, arguably the best tight end in the league.

2. Josh Allen

Year in and year out Josh Allen is a top fantasy football quarterback and for good reason. He is the size of a linebacker with the running ability of a halfback and can still throw the ball just as well as any QB in the league.

He finished as the number one fantasy quarterback last season with 392.6 points, 35.8 points more than the next closest (Jalen Hurts). A big factor for his fantasy production was his 15 rushing touchdowns to go along with his 524 rushing yards.

The one area that could hurt Allen is that he no longer has an elite receiver with Stefon Diggs now in Houston. The last four seasons Allen was able to rely on Diggs to be a 1,000+ yard and eight-plus touchdown wideout, but their tenure has come to an end.

Number seventeen will now have to rely on a wide receiver by a committee consisting of Khalil Shakir, Marquez-Valdez Scantling, and rookie Keon Coleman.

1. Lamar Jackson

Lamar Jackson was the 2023 MVP for a reason. With the combination of his arm and his legs, Jackson made defenses look silly week in and week out and he will do it again this year.

Jackson has the rushing potential of a top running back every week. In 2023 he averaged 51 rushing yards per game and found the endzone five times with his feet. Having Derrick Henry in the backfield will do more good than bad for his rushing stats. The option plays will leave defenses confused about who to focus on which can help open space for Jackson.

As for his passing, Jackson will have a healthy Mark Andrews who is still a top-three tight end in the league and Zay Flowers will be in his second season after a solid rookie campaign. Defenses may also have to add an extra guy in the box due to the threat of Henry and Jackson running which may lead to more one-on-one coverages.

Jackson will come into this season hungrier than ever after losing in the AFC Championship to the Super Bowl-winning Chiefs last year. Expect him to light up the stat sheet again and chase his third MVP.
