Travis And Jason Kelce Have Incredible Bond Beyond The Football Field

Super Bowl LVII is officially over, and the Kansas City Chiefs have won their third Super Bowl in franchise history. The Super Bowl was renamed the Kelce Bowl since a pair of brothers, Jason Kelce on the Philadelphia Eagles and Travis Kelce on the Kanas City Chiefs, would face each other. This was the first time a pair of brothers faced off against each other in the game since Jim and John Harbaugh coached against each other in Super Bowl XLVII.

Larger Than Life Personalities

The Kelce brothers are two of the best personalities in the sport and are some huge faces in the league. Jason plays center, and If you know anything about the center position, they are not usually recognizable even by their team’s fans. Still, Jason is one of the best centers to ever play, making him a considerable figure in Philadelphia and the NFL.

Jason had one of the best Super Bowl celebration speeches ever at the 2017 Eagles Super Bowl parade when he wore a mummer’s suit and called out everyone who doubted the Eagles. It was one of the most fantastic moments in championship celebration history.

Travis plays tight end, and his personality is the best in the league, and it’s not even close. Travis makes playing tight end seem like it is the coolest thing in the world, and every time you put a microphone in front of him, you’re going to get something crazy and awesome coming from him.

Travis destroyed the mayor of Cincinnati after the AFC championship game, in response to a video the mayor had made. The mayor of Cincinnati said that Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow needs to take a paternity test to see if he is the father of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes since Burrow was undefeated against him.

The bad news for the city of Cincinnati and their mayor is they lost to Kansas City, and of course, Kelce was going to get the microphone in the celebration, and the mayor was finished, and deservedly so.

The Journey Was Never Easy

When you talk about the Kelce brothers, you have to talk about how they are great football players, and how they are so dominant at their positions, but it wasn’t always like that. Jason had no Division I offers coming out of high school, and he decided to walk on the team at the University of Cincinnati. Jason worked his way from getting no Division I offers to a sixth-round pick in the 2011 NFL Draft.

Travis was not highly regarded either coming out of high school, and he had some smaller Division I offers but decided to follow his older brother and go to the University of Cincinnati.

Travis got kicked off the team for violation of team rules, but Jason helped save his career by begging the coaches to get his brother back on the team. Everything Travis was going to do from then on was to not be in that spot again.

Jason was drafted by Andy Reid, who was coaching the Eagles at the time, and then when Reid got fired by the Eagles, he became the head coach of the Chiefs and drafted Travis in 2013. When Reid called Travis on draft night to tell him the Chiefs would be selecting him, he told Travis to hand the phone over to his brother. Reid then asked Jason if Travis was going to screw it up for them, and he said, “No, sir.”

Home Is Where Their Heart Is

Jason and Travis come from Cleveland, Ohio, and went to Cleveland Heights High School. If you knew nothing about them, you would think they play for the Cleveland Browns because of how much they love their hometown. The Kelces have never taken a snap for a professional team in Cleveland, but they haven’t forgotten where they came from.

The narrative around the country is Cleveland is a horrible city, and even Lebron James, who is from the area and played for their NBA team, left the town not once but twice. Lebron would never claim that he was from Cleveland, and he always claimed that he was from Akron, which is true, but they are 30 miles apart.

Unlike Lebron, who couldn’t care less about the city, the Kelces make sure to represent them anytime they have the chance. Jason walked into the Super Bowl wearing a Cleveland Heights shirt, and you can find Travis at Cleveland Cavaliers and Guardians games.

The Kelces’ impact on Cleveland has been a great one, and it’s not easy to be the face of a city where you don’t play professionally. But, the Kelces made sure to never forget about home, and they make it cool to say you’re from Cleveland.

Brotherly Love

Jason and Travis might have just played the biggest game of their lives against each other, but at the end of the day, they are brothers. Jason and Travis were seen hugging each other at the end of the game, and you could tell how grateful Travis was to his brother for helping to put him in a spot to succeed and to be the player and man he is today. Jason made sure to stay on the field after he lost and watch his brother celebrate and hold up his second Lombardi Trophy.

What a moment this was ❤️ @JasonKelce @tkelce pic.twitter.com/xqSxwhqYMM — New Heights (@newheightshow) February 14, 2023

The Kelces went from not being highly regarded to one of the best stories in sports, and their story will end one day in the same state where it started. They will both wear the gold jacket and get inducted into Canton, Ohio’s Pro Football Hall of Fame. Jason will go down as one of the best centers of all time, and Travis is already the best tight end to ever play. So why not put him up top with the best pass-catchers of all time?

Many brothers have played in the NFL, but we can all agree that these guys are the best all-around to do it.
