Trevor Lawrence Could Regain Elite Fantasy Status In 2024
Lawrence is coming off a decent season, where he finished as QB 12 but did not reach the expectations many hoped he would reach after finishing as QB 7 in 2022. Along with the Jaguars' addition of wide receiver Calvin Ridley, Lawrence showed many signs of inconsistency in the 2023 season.
He finished with 370 completions on 584 attempts (63.4 Completion Rate) for 4016 yards (10.9 yards per attempt), 21 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions while adding 70 rushes for 339 yards (4.84 yards per attempt) and 4 touchdowns.
Only five weeks with a top-10 quarterback performance and four weeks outside of the top-20 quarterbacks showcase this. With the departure of Ridley, the Jaguars brought in two new speedy Wide Receivers to help with the deep threat (rookie Brian Thomas Jr. and veteran Gabe Davis). Returning Wide Receiver Christian Kirk, Tight End Evan Engram, and Running Back Travis Etienne are all solid weapons that should give him a decent floor with the possibility of producing at a high level.
However, Lawrence does not offer much rushing upside, which makes him very reliant on his passing game. He is going into his fourth season in the NFL with still something to prove, and his coaching staff needs to do the same. This may give the entire Jaguars team some fire that causes them to produce numbers at a higher level.
His future with the Jaguars isn't completely guaranteed, but it is very likely he will continue his career with Jacksonville. In redraft leagues, owners should view Lawrence as someone who should be safely within the top 15 quarterbacks with the upside of being a top 10 quarterback.
Our consensus projections for Lawrence in the 2024 season would be: 416 completions, 4602 yards, 26 touchdowns, 11 interceptions through the air, and 47 carries for 239 yards and 4 rushing touchdowns.
