Ty Chandler Could Have Some Stand Alone Fantasy Value

Ty Chandler came into last season with no expectations. Well, Chandler actually showed potential and was a solid player for the Vikings. In 102 carries, he ran for 461 rushing yards (4.5 rushing yards per attempt) and scored 3 touchdowns. Chandler was also decent as a pass catcher. In 25 targets, he made 21 receptions for 159 passing yards.

Ty Chandler was held to under 45% snap count for the first 12 weeks of the season after the bye week. They decided to bump that, and from weeks 14-18, he never dipped below 53% of the snaps. He has a special place in some fantasy managers' hearts since he was RB4 in the fantasy playoffs with 25.2 points.

The Vikings clearly see more in Chandler than Alexander Mattison, as they parted ways with Mattison in the offseason. There is bad news and good news with Chandler. The bad news is that he won't be the starter, as the Vikings signed Aaron Jones in the offseason. The good news is that Jones has an injury history, and the Vikings' running back depth is very mediocre.

If Jones goes down, Chandler will be the next guy up. Chandler would be a nice get-in fantasy player if you are in deep leagues or want a cuff-back option if Aaron Jones is on your team. Besides that, Chandler should remain on the waiver wire.

Our consensus projections for Chandler in the 2024 season are 155 carries for 645 yards and 6 rushing touchdowns. As well as 25 receptions, 163 yards, and 1 touchdown.
