Tyrone Tracy's Clear Path To Fantasy Success
Tyrone Tracy was drafted in the 5th round, pick 166th overall, by the New York Giants. He was a late bloomer in college. He played WR before converting to RB. With only 259 touches, he managed 2148 scrimmage yards (8.3 yards per touch) and 15 total touchdowns. According to PFF, Tracy had a 72 receiving grade and a 90 rushing grade in 2023.
The Giants are used to leaning on former star running back Saquan Barkley, but now he's gone, and Devin Singletary has replaced him. Singletary has never proven he can handle a workhorse role, so a committee is entirely possible to try and mitigate Barkley's loss.
Singletary has averaged around 212 touches a season in his career, while the Giants have averaged 448 rushes a season. Subtracting around 100 carries for Daniel Jones, there are still around 130-150 carries to be had.
Eric Gray and Gary Brightwell have no lock on the second back on the depth chart. Tracy’s ability as a pass catcher and pass blocker should help him get on the field and stay there. The Giants won't have a great offense, but they have added to their offense line, which should help both Singletary and Tracy.
Tyrone is being drafted in the fourth round of most rookie drafts or is in the first waiver cycle, and both are screaming values for a player who could have 150 touches in his first year with an explosive profile. This quote comes directly from Giants.com
“The 24-year-old forced 46 missed tackles on just 113 carries while finishing fourth in the country in yards after contact per rush. Additionally, his 23.1 percent explosive run rate was the best in this year's draft class and ranked in the 97th percentile among all prospects since 2018, according to Pro Football Focus.”
Our consensus projections for Tracy in the 2024 season are 86 carries for 542 yards and 3 rushing touchdowns. As well as 27 receptions, 219 yards, and 1 touchdown.
