UK In The GlobL Jam Before The Gold Medal Game
The Kentucky Wildcats basketball team has been in Toronto, Canada, this week at the GlobL Jam 2023 representing Team USA versus the world. Sat, July 15th, they finished pool play with a perfect record of 3-0, beating Germany, Canada, and Africa(BAL Select).
They came to the GlobL Jam without seven-foot freshman phenom Aaron Bradshaw due to a foot injury. Then in a scrimmage the day before the event started, an ankle injury kept their other seven-footer, Ugonna Onyenso, out as well.
This trip has showcased the best first-year class in the nation and how the young Cats would come together as a team. However, returning graduate Senior Antonio Reeves has been the top scorer in the games with 24.7 points per game, including an eight of 11 three-point performance against BAL Select Saturday night. Legacy freshman Reed Sheppard and DJ Wagner have led the star-studded first-year class, and Grad transfer Tre Mitchell has also been impressive. Here are the stats for Kentucky through three games.

This evening Kentucky will play Canada a second time in the gold medal game to see who wins the GlobL Jam 2023. In the first game, UK won 93-69. I expect to see Canada play with more pride for the gold, especially with the home crowd in Toronto, led by Thomas Kennedy, Kellan Tynes, and company. Who comes away with the gold and the winner of the 2023 GlobL Jam? We find out tonight at 8:00 PM EST at the Mattamy Athletic Centre.
