Unbelievable, This Player Has Requested A Trade From The New York Jets
Unbelievable! Only 4 months after the New York Jets acquired Haason Reddick via trade, he immediately requested to be traded. Due to being in the middle of a holdout, the Jets have barely seen him play. He skipped the entire voluntary offseason program, including the mandatory minicamp, and is even holding out in the preseason. The fines are piling up and now he is requesting to be traded.
There is a legit chance that Reddick will never play a down for the Jets. He is currently in the final year of his contract with 14.25 million dollars non-guaranteed and it's clear he's not playing without a new deal. This is likely going to stretch out for multiple weeks now.
The blame here is 100% on GM Joe Douglas for the situation the Jets find themselves in. Reddick was going to hold out for a new contract no matter where he went, and Joe Douglas took the bait by sending a 3rd round pick in 2026 to Philadelphia.
The best way to avoid this situation, to begin with, is by not being cheap with Bryce Huff who was one of the better players on this Jets defense last season. It's Ironic that he signed with the Eagles to a three-year, $51.1 million free-agent deal, which is cheaper than what Reddick wants.
Prior to acquiring him, he made it clear to the Jets what he wanted, and that was to get paid. If they had no intention of paying him, why pull the trigger on acquiring him? Douglas got arrogant in doing this trade and that arrogance could cost him his job. Both he and head coach Robert Saleh (Who should have been fired last year) need this year to be a success.
It's just unbelievable that this entire Jets/Reddick saga is still ongoing. It continues to show the level of incompetence this franchise still has. They keep making the same mistakes and rarely learn from them.
