Washington Commanders Rookie Misses Thursday Practice

Washington Commanders rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels has been one of the biggest storylines through the first seven weeks of the NFL season. The second-overall draft pick has completed 75.6% of his passes for 1,410 yards, six touchdowns, and two interceptions. The only thing that has slowed Daniels down is his rib injury, which he suffered in the week seven game against the Carolina Panthers.

Head coach Dan Quinn initially said his rookie QB was week-to-week. Daniels was not at the Commander's practice on Thursday, but Adam Schefter of ESPN says he will try to participate on Friday.

Mariota To Start If Daniels Is Out

If Daniels can't go on Sunday afternoon against Chicago, Marcus Mariota will get the start at quarterback. Mariota is a 10-year NFL veteran and played in relief of Daniels last week, finishing 18-of-23 passing with 205 yards and two passing touchdowns.

Mariota looked okay against the Panthers. However, can he have that same success against a Chicago Bears defense that's allowed the fourth-fewest passing yards and second-fewest passing touchdowns through seven weeks? We'll have to wait and find out.

Upcoming Washington Commanders Schedule

Following this weekend's matchup with the Bears, Washington goes on the road to play the struggling New York Giants. They're then home against the Steelers in Week 10, on the road in Philadelphia in Week 11, and host Dallas and Tennessee back-to-back in Weeks 12 and 13 before getting to their bye week.

After the bye, the Commanders' schedule is as follows: at New Orleans Saints (Week 15), vs. Philadelphia Eagles (Week 16), vs. Atlanta Falcons (Week 17), and they wrap up the regular season on the road in Dallas in Week 18.
