Week 4 Quarterback Power Rankings

Week 4 of the NFL brought huge performances from the quarterback position. For the fourth straight week, there is a new number one. Check out who made the top 10 quarterback power rankings list below.

Power rankings are based on this week's and previous week's performances.

10. Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs

Last Week: Unranked

This is the second time Patrick Mahomes has appeared on the top 10 quarterback power rankings list, his first coming in Week 1.

Mahomes may still be the best quarterback in the league, but he isn’t playing like it throughout the first four games. He has played just “solid” football for his standard, something we saw last season in a down year. Even though he is off to an average start, he still has the Chiefs 4-0, one of two undefeated teams.

In Week 4, Mahomes led a 10-point comeback to take down division rival, Chargers, 17-10. In the win, the three-time champion threw for 245 yards, one touchdown, and one interception on 19-29 throwing. He found his go-to target, Travis Kelce, seven times for 89 yards. The pair seemed to finally be clicking after only hooking up for eight receptions in the first three games. Mahomes also threw a bomb to the rookie speedster Xavier Worthy for a 54-yard score.

2024 Stats: 4-0 record, 67 completion percentage, 904 yards, six touchdowns, five interceptions, and an 87.9 rating.

9. CJ Stroud, Houston Texans

Last Week: Unranked

The Houston Texans move to 3-1 after handing the Jaguars their fourth loss of the season behind a monster game from CJ Stroud

Entering the season, the Texans had one of the best-receiving corps in the league with Nico Collins, Stefon Diggs, Tank Dell, and tight end Dalton Schultz. With so many weapons, it was unsure who would be Stroud’s “go-to” guy, but after this week, it is safe to say Collins has taken the top spot.

Collins was targeted on 38% of Stroud’s passing attempts. The two connected 12 times for 151 yards and a touchdown. Collins now has three 115+ yard games on the season, all three resulting in wins.

Stroud also led a game-winning nine-play drive when the Texans trailed by three with just under three minutes left. Stroud had 45 passing yards on the last possession and capped off the drive with a one-yard touchdown pass to Dare Ogunbiwale. The sophomore closed the game with 27-40 passing, 345 yards, two touchdowns, and a 110.9 rating.

2024 Stats: 3-1 record, 68 completion percentage, 1,054 yards, six touchdowns, two interceptions, and a 98.4 rating.

8. Baker Mayfield, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Last Week: Unranked

After an embarrassing loss to the Broncos last week, the Bucs' offense was firing on all cylinders this week against the Eagles, led by their quarterback Baker Mayfield

Mayfield had Tampa Bay moving the ball down the field easily, scoring on their first four possessions. In just over 15 minutes of play, Baker cooked up three touchdowns, two passing, and one on the ground. The 29-year-old was ripping the ball downfield all day as he had four plays for a 20+ gain.

In a rematch of last year’s Wild Card matchup, the Buccaneers trump the Eagles 33-16. Mayfield went 30-47 passing for 347 yards, three total touchdowns, and a 100.2 rating.

2024 Stats: 3-1 record, 76 completion percentage, 984 yards, ten total touchdowns, two interceptions, and a 106.9 rating.

7. Brock Purdy, San Francisco 49ers

Brock Purdy

Last Week: 4th

Brock Purdy didn’t have to do much behind a strong run game from Jordan Mason and the 49ers defense causing distress for the Patriots all game.

Purdy threw one touchdown, a 12-yard score to tight end George Kittle, who returned from injury. Deebo Samuel also returned from missing last week and produced three catches for 58 yards.

The last pick in the 2022 draft threw for 288 yards, one touchdown, and one interception on 15-27 attempts and had an 89.7 rating. Despite the low attempts, Purdy made many big plays, as he averaged 19.2 yards per completion.

2024 Stats: 2-2 record, 69 completion percentage, 1,130 yards, five touchdowns, two interceptions, and a 104.9 rating.

6. Joe Burrow, Cincinnati Bengals

Last Week: 5th

The Bengals take down the Panthers 34-24 in what felt like a must-win game. Joe Burrow puts up his third straight productive week in the team’s first win of the season.

The Bengals were run-heavy on Sunday, with 31 rushing attempts and 31 passing attempts. Burrow made most of his throws as he went 22-31 with 232 yards, one touchdown, and a 100.5 rating. In the second straight week, Burrow and Chase connected for a touchdown, this time a 63-yard score.

2024 Stats: 1-3 record, 978 yards, seven touchdowns, one interception, and a 105.9 rating.

5. Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills

Josh Allen

Last Week: 1st

Josh Allen has been inconsistent through the first four games, and Week 4 was one of his bad outings. The Ravens beat up the Bills on both sides of the ball, making it hard for Allen to move it down the field.

Allen wasn’t getting anything going in the air or on the ground. On 29 passing attempts, he completed 16 balls for 180 yards and added 21 rushing yards on five carries. His only big play came late in the blowout loss, where he threw a rolling out, cross-body, 52-yard bomb to Khalil Shakir.

2024 Stats: 3-1 record, 69 completion percentage, 920 total yards, nine total touchdowns, zero interceptions, and a 116.5 rating.

4. Lamar Jackson, Baltimore Ravens

Last Week: 3rd

A bad game for Josh Allen but a good and easy game for Lamar Jackson. Like last week against the Cowboys, the MVP didn’t have to throw a lot.

Led by a massive Derrick Henry game, Jackson threw the ball just 18 times, converting on 72% of his throws for 156 yards and two touchdowns. Both touchdowns were tossed to his running backs, Henry and Justice Hill. He also added 54 yards and a touchdown with his legs on six carries.

After an 0-2 start, Lamar and the Ravens have won their last two games to get to .500.

2024 Stats: 2-2 record, 67 completion percentage, 1,166 total yards, seven total touchdowns, one interception, and a 102.3 rating.

3. Geno Smith, Seattle Seahawks

Geno Smith

Last Week: 8th

Geno Smith continues his incredible season after another big game against the Detroit Lions' stout defense.

The Seahawks were throw-heavy the entire game, as 79% of plays were pass attempts. This led to Smith throwing for 395 yards, the most by a QB this season and the second time he has led in passing yards in a week. Four players had five or more catches, and six players had 30 or more receiving yards. Smith completed 68% of his passes and threw one touchdown and one interception with an 86.5 rating.

2024 Stats: 3-1 record, 72 completion percentage, 1,182 yards (Leads League), five total touchdowns, four interceptions, and a 91.2 rating.

2. Jayden Daniels, Washington Commanders

Jayden Daniels
Jayden Daniels

Last Week: 7th

The rookie of the year favorite, Jayden Daniels, put up another great game in a 42-14 beat-down win against the Cardinals.

Daniels had just four incompletions on 30 pass attempts to go along with his 233 yards, one touchdown, one interception, and a 96.3 rating. He was effective in the run game again, with 47 yards and a touchdown on eight carries.

Daniels threw his first pick of the season, but besides the one mistake, he protected the ball well and led the Commanders to productive drives. Washington only had to punt once in the game, their first punt since Week 1.

2024 Stats: 3-1 record, 82 completion percentage (Leads League), 1,115 total yards, seven total touchdowns, one interception, and a 107.4 rating.

1. Sam Darnold, Minnesota Vikings

Sam Darnold
Sam Darnold

Last Week: 2nd

After three straight weeks in the number two spot, Sam Darnold finally owns the title of the best quarterback in the league.

The Vikings took an early 28-0 lead against the Packers, and Darnold threw three touchdowns. One endzone trip was a 14-yard score to Justin Jefferson, the team's fourth straight week of connecting for a touchdown.

The former first-round pick threw for 275 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception and had a 123.4 rating while completing 20 of 28 throws. One reason he has been so productive is his ability to spread the ball. His first eight completions were distributed to eight different players.

Darnold has the fourth-best odds to win MVP at +1100 after starting the season at +20000.

2024 Stats: 4-0 record, 69 completion percentage, 932 yards, 11 touchdowns (Leads League), three interceptions, and a 118.9 rating (Leads League).
