What Will The Packers 2023 Slate Look Like?
With the NFL Draft just around the corner and the NFL schedule releasing next month, it’s easy to get excited as the biggest part of the off-season is almost here! Looking ahead to next season, what could the Green Bay Packers’ schedule look like and which opponents will they or will not beat? Here are predictions for what opponents the Packers could face each week and whether they would win or lose on that certain day.
A Back And Forth Start To The Season
Week 1: Green Bay Packers at Chicago Bears: Sun 1:00 pm on FOX
Green Bay has opened up its season against a divisional rival four times in the last five years. There is a good chance it happens again against their biggest rival. The Bears improved a lot with this free agency by spending a lot of money. The Packers haven’t won in Week 1 since 2020. It’ll take some time to readjust so take the Bears.
Prediction: Bears 20, Packers 17 (0-1)
Week 2: Detroit Lions at Green Bay Packers: Mon 8:15 pm on ESPN
The Packers have played a divisional opponent in Week Two every year since 2018. Lambeau Field is a popular primetime destination, and putting a competitive rivalry featuring the upstart Lions and the new-look Packers would make for an exciting matchup.
Prediction: Packers 27, Lions 23 (1-1)
Week 3: Green Bay Packers at Pittsburgh Steelers: Sun 4:25 pm on FOX
Week Three has been a popular spot for Packers’ AFC opponents, and in previous history, games against the Steelers have been earlier in the year. Two teams who are sort of rebuilding but trying to stay competitive as well. The home team takes it.
Prediction: Steelers 31, Packers 24 (1-2)
Week 4: Green Bay Packers at Atlanta Falcons: Sun 1:00 pm on FOX
Green Bay heads to the ATL to battle its first non-divisional NFC opponent of the season. The Packers’ defense should have a good day against Desmond Ridder.
Prediction: Packers 24, Falcons 14 (2-2)
Week 5: New Orleans Saints at Green Bay Packers: Sun 4:25 pm on FOX
The Packers will like to avenge its 38-3 loss to New Orleans a couple of years ago. The Saints will bring Derek Carr to Lambeau as he looks to adjust from Davante Adams to Michael Thomas (maybe).
Prediction: Saints 34, Packers 17 (2-3)
Week 6: Minnesota Vikings at Green Bay Packers: Thu 8:20 pm on Amazon Prime Video
Minnesota still might have flashbacks of Kesean Nixon running over its defense. He probably will have another great game. The Vikings just came off 13 wins last season but the Packers pull an upset.
Prediction: Packers 34, Vikings 31 (3-3)
Packers Find Success In Middle Of The Season
Week 7: Green Bay Packers at Denver Broncos: Sun 1:00 pm on FOX
The Packers and Broncos both had disappointing seasons. Denver hopes to regain prime Russell Wilson, and Green Bay makes its first trip to the Mile High City for the first time since 2015. That battle was between two six-and-zero teams with the Broncos winning 29-10. They don’t win here.
Prediction: Packers 28, Broncos 23 (4-3)
Week 8: Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Green Bay Packers: Sun 1:00 pm on FOX
Baker Mayfield and the Buccaneers head to Lambeau Field to battle the Green Bay Packers. With both teams losing Hall of Fame quarterbacks, it’ll be interesting to see where these teams stack up record-wise for this battle. It should be a defensive game but a winnable one.
Prediction: Packers 17, Buccaneers 14 (5-3)
Week 9: Green Bay Packers at New York Giants: Sun 4:25 pm on FOX
Last season, the Giants sent the Packers into a spiral after their battle in London. This time, it’s in East Rutherford at MetLife Stadium and could be a key battle in the NFC. But the Packers can’t get revenge.
Prediction: Giants 30, Packers 21 (5-4)
Week 10: Chicago Bears at Green Bay Packers: Sun 8:20 pm on NBC
Packers vs Bears is usually a staple of Sunday Night Football. This time, it should be a much better result for Green Bay.
Prediction: Packers 28, Bears 13 (6-4)
Week 11: Kansas City Chiefs at Green Bay Packers: Sun 4:25 pm on CBS
The last time the Packers played the Chiefs, it was Jordan Love’s first career start. Although the green and gold only scored seven points, the defense played fantastically and Mahomes struggled all day. It unfortunately will be tougher to contain the defending champions. Expect tight-end Travis Kelce to be open all day.
Prediction: Chiefs 34, Packers 23 (6-5)
Week 12: Bye Week
When don’t the Packers have a late bye week?
Do Packers Have Enough Gas To Make Playoffs?
Week 13: Green Bay Packers at Carolina Panthers: Sun 1:00 pm on FOX
Another team who spent a whole lot, the Carolina Panthers look to become a playoff team after barely missing last season. With a new rookie at quarterback and an improved offensive line and the addition of former kryptonite receiver Adam Thielen, it might be a long day in Charlotte.
Prediction: Panthers 26, Packers 19 (6-6)
Week 14: Green Bay Packers at Las Vegas Raiders: Sun 8:20 pm on NBC
Davante Adams’s revenge game? The former Packers receiver makes his debut against his former team as Green Bay visits Las Vegas for the first time ever. Jimmy G is at QB now and still haunts the Packers to this day.
Prediction: Raiders 35, Packers 31 (6-7)
Week 15: Los Angeles Chargers at Green Bay Packers: Sun 4:25 pm on CBS
The Chargers play the Packers for the first time since 2019. Star quarterback Justin Herbert will battle fellow 2020 draftee Jordan Love. Can the Packers pull an upset?
Prediction: Packers 30, Chargers 27 (7-7)
Week 16: Green Bay Packers at Minnesota Vikings: Sun: 8:20pm on NBC (flex)
Both teams might be in playoff position by this point, and the Vikings certainly do not want to be swept. Justin Jefferson might have a day and the Packers get nervous.
Prediction: Vikings 34, Packers 17 (7-8)
Week 17: Los Angeles Rams at Green Bay Packers: 4:25 pm on FOX
Cooper Kupp didn’t play the last time these two teams met, but he will be a factor in this matchup. The Rams had a poor year last season, but coach Sean McVay should have the guys ready to compete for a playoff spot.
Prediction: Rams 23, Packers 20 (7-9)
Week 18: Green Bay Packers at Detroit Lions: 1:00 pm on FOX
With a win, could the Lions clinch the division? They could definitely do it as they sweep the Packers for the second straight year and advance to the playoffs for the first time since 2017.
Prediction: Lions 34, Packers 23 (7-10)
And there it is! The Green Bay Packers finish 7-10 and although disappointing, they see progression in their young players and boast a top-five defense. With lots of hope ahead, they could return to the postseason in 2024-25.
What do you think of my predictions? The NFL Schedule Release will be in May 2023 as fans look forward to a great NFL season!
