3 Potential Landing Spots For This All-NBA Player

Damian Lillard has finally made the long-expected request to be traded out of Portland. Lillard was the staple player for the Trailblazers for as long as many fans, myself included, can remember. But like most players in the NBA nowadays, he has finally had enough. This comes on the heels of the NBA draft, where the Trailblazers lucked into point guard Scoot Henderson and the recent resignation of Jerami Grant for well over his value at five years and 160 million dollars.

While Lillard had stuck with the Blazers forever, trusting they'd help him, it was finally clear they won't. So now that he has officially requested a trade let's talk about the three most likely destinations for Damian Lillard to get traded to.

1. If The 76ers Want To Win In The NBA, It's Time To Make The Splash.

The 76ers have been attempting to reign supreme over the NBA for years now, and after the "Process" has been deemed a failure by most, it is time they brought in a new face. Harden was perfect for them, but he wasn't necessarily what they needed. The 76ers needed another CONSISTENT scorer aside from Embiid to help take pressure off him and open up more scoring opportunities for Embiid and the team. But with the recent news that we will likely see both James Harden and Tobias Harris on the move from Philly, it is time for the 76ers to change their model.

If they packaged Harris and picks to Portland, then acquired another star in exchange for James Harden, the 76ers could quickly build a powerhouse with an even stronger big three. Don't be surprised if you see Lillard on his way to Philadelphia soon.

2. Could The Clippers Be In The Running?

The Los Angeles Clippers have been a disappointing team. Only a little has been done since the acquisition of Kawhi Leonard and Paul George. This is primarily due to injuries to Leonard and George. The two stars have consistently gotten injured, and we have yet to get the true team potential we were promised. This could change if they managed to acquire Damian Lillard.

The Clippers, while also simultaneously in pursuit of James Harden, could switch up to the more prolific scorer and safer bet of a player in Lillard. We could see Lillard in LA in exchange for a metric ton of draft capital.

3. The Boston Celtics Could Take The Leap

The Celtics were disappointing this postseason, widely regarded as the favorite to come out of the east after the Bucks were eliminated. With a mildly young core of Brown, Tatum, and now Porzingis, this Celtics team could be looking to win big. The Celtics did have to give up Marcus Smart recently to acquire Porzingis from Washington, but this would allow Boston to regain an older voice in the locker room from a guard.

Especially with the inconsistency from Jaylen Brown in the playoffs, it would be massively beneficial to have Lillard help take the weight off Tatum. Not to mention, can you imagine the pick-and-roll with Porzingis? The Celtics would likely have to give up either Brown or a load of draft picks for the Blazers' point guard, but if you ask me, that's a price I'd be willing to pay.
