Will CBS Debut A New Score Bug In Super Bowl LVIII?
As we are getting closer and closer to Super Bowl LVIII between the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers, many fans are excited for two of the best teams in the league to face off for the second time in four years.
But for others, they are expecting the debut of a new graphics package by CBS. While it may be just a little part of the big game, there are many fans that are waiting and hoping for a change. Will CBS continue the trend or stay put with its current set that debuted in 2021?

The Super Bowl Score Bug Trend
It has been a notable trend that the television network that airs the Super Bowl debuts a new score bug and graphics during the big game.
For example, last year FOX debuted a new score bug just in time for Super Bowl LVII between Philadelphia and Kansas City. This new graphics package was used throughout the 2023 regular season.
In 2022, NBC brought out a new on-screen score bug for the first time since 2018 and is still being used today. Last time CBS had the Super Bowl in 2021, the network debuted their current set, which got rid of CBS blue on the scoreboard for black and grey mixed with team colors. But while NBC and FOX debuted new graphics in 2018 and 2020 respectively, CBS did not in 2019 leading to speculation that they could opt to stay put again and wait until the next Super Bowl aired on the network.
Will CBS debut a new score bug? I would not say they will 100% since they held out in 2019, but I think it is very likely that we will see new graphics when Kansas City and San Francisco take the field. While this Super Bowl rematch is very similar to 2020, the difference is it will be on CBS and hopefully will add some fresh and modern graphics to go with it. And if CBS does not go in that direction, at least the Nickelodeon score bug will make its Super Bowl debut.
