Will Shipley Gets Tough Landing Spot For Fantasy

Will Shipley was drafted in the fourth round with the 127th pick overall by the Philadelphia Eagles. This was completely overshadowed by the Eagles signing superstar running back Saquan Barkley to a four-year, 48 million-dollar contract. Barkley, paired with Jalen Hurts's rushing attempts, severely hinders the amount of work Shipley can get early on.

It was clear that Shipley could play due to his 526 carries for 2747 yards (5.2 yards per attempt) and 31 touchdowns, along with 85 receptions for 602 yards (7.1 yards per reception) and two touchdowns in his three seasons at Clemson. If Barkley were to get hurt, Shipley would still have competition with Kenneth Gainwell for the main role, and the goal-line work would most likely shift back to Hurts.

It would be difficult to carve out a target share with AJ Brown, Devonta Smith, and a healthy Dallas Goedert, so even if Shipley were to take over the role due to injury, his ceiling would be a consistent RB2 with some upside like D’Andre Swift or Miles Sanders were before him.

Our consensus projections for Shipley in the 2024 season are 30 carries for 265 yards and 2   rushing touchdowns. As well as 9 receptions, 56 yards, and 0 touchdowns.
