WWE Needs To Eliminate These Championship Titles.

In 2019 WWE had introduced a brand new set of championships to the company's lineage. On an episode of Monday Night Alexa Bliss introduced the WWE universe to the new WWE Women's Tag Team Championships. Bayley and Sasha Banks would go on to win the first-ever Women's Tag Team championships by winning a tag team Elimination Chamber match in February.

Since then, there has not been much to write home about in the way of the Women's Tag Team championships. What was supposed to be a title that brought opportunity and more prestige to a building women's division turned into a mid-card afterthought. These titles have only main-evented one show since being brought into the company in 2019. This match set the Kabuki Warriors (Asuka and Kairi Sane) and Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair.

There have always been big names attached to these titles in order to boost there relevancy and get fans to buy in to the belts with names they were already familiar with. The issue WWE kept running in to with these titles is that there weren't other legitimate tag teams for these thrown together teams to go against.

There have been a handful of legitimate tag teams that have been in the division and had some decent runs, but the belts never seemed to demand any respect from the fans. A majority of the time these titles have been footnotes in a world championship story that was already going on. From storylines like the Boss and Hug connection to the most current feud that pits the current champs Belair and Cargill being involved with current Women's World Champion Liv Morgan and her tag team partner and new friend Raquel Rodriguez.

These titles have been booked poorly since their inception. At first it was an extra set of titles for the women to chase after and get involved in fun storylines that they may have not been in before. With this most recent tag title reign it seems WWE have less of an ability to make these titles relevant than ever before.

Bianca Belair is currently in charge of helping newcomer Jade Cargill get through the early stages of her WWE career. After coming over from rival company AEW Jade has yet to really hit her stride as a singles competitor. Only wrestling 5 matches as a singles competitor since joining the company. A lot of fans believe Jade is just not ready for the level of in-ring competition that is seen in WWE on a week-to-week basis.

When looking at this tag team at a distance you start to see the real picture of what is happening to Bianca as a result of this tag team partnership. As a former face of the women's division, Royal Rumble winner, and multiple-time world champion this title reign with Cargill has been an absolute disgrace. Belair is a bonified superstar who has been in the main event scene ever since being called up to the main roster in 2020 at WrestleMania 36.

This title reign has been an embarrassment as far as most fans are concerned. To see the EST of WWE be a footnote to this championship reign of Liv Morgan who is clearly going to be tied up with Rhea Ripley until WrestleMania 41 would upset any fan of Belair. To make matters worse it does not seem like either Bianca or Jade will be going after the Women's World Championship, rather it seems Liv and Raquel only have eyes for the tag titles.

Shake's Take:

As a Bianca Belair fan, I need to see her far away from these titles. Belair and Cargill need to drop the titles and then start a feud against one another. At least then you don't have one of the best female performers in the world walking around with a meaningless title. It seemed like the plan was for Jade and Bianca to split up but that has yet to play out on TV.

To see Bianca go from main eventing WrestleMania 37 to another career defining match, and victory at WrestleMania 38 defeating Becky Lynch to avenge an embarassing loss to Lynch at SummerSlam the pervious year to what she has become is upsetting.

While no superstar can be on top forever this seems like a lack of respect for a wrestler some referred to as the female John Cena with how she was able to get over with crowds and resonate with a younger audience at the same time.

Hopefully, these belts are taken away soon. It has been a failed experiment in WWE and it is time to let them go. With new United States and Intercontinental titles seemingly on the way for the women's division, there is hope that the women's division will get the love and respect they deserve.
