Xabi Alonso Announces Shocking Decision On His Future As Manager

Xabi Alonso is the current manager of Bayern Leverkusen. This season they are one of the most “hot” teams in football, going undefeated so far this season in every single one of their competitions. So far Bayern Leverkusen have played a total of 39 games across the Bundesliga, the Europa League, and the DFB-Pokal.

Out of those 39 games they are yet to lose a single one, this has led them to be first in the Bundesliga as they look to break Bayern Munich’s winning dominance in that competition, as well as making it to the Europa League Quarter Finals and the Semi-Finals of the DFB-Pokal.

Before becoming manager, Xabi Alonso was a player whose career started at Real Sociedad. From there Xabi Alonso would go on to play at SD Eibar, Liverpool, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich where he ended up retiring as a player. In his playing career, Xabi Alonso won 2 Euros, 2 Champions League, 3 Bundesliga, 2 UEFA Supercups, 1 FA Cup, 1 DFB-Pokal, 1 Spanish Supercup, 2 Copa del Rey, 1 Community Shield, 1 German Supercup, and 1 World Cup.

Xabi Alonso was always known for his intelligence in the field and his elite understanding of the game, both attributes that have translated perfectly to his managerial career and have helped him be as successful as he currently is.

Due to his success at Bayern Leverkusen, Xabi Alonso has garnered interest from Europe’s top clubs as they look to get him to manage their clubs. The clubs that have shown interest have been clubs that he played for as a player like Real Madrid, Liverpool, and Bayern Munich, but he has also caught the action of rival clubs such as Barcelona and Manchester United.

Although all these clubs have delivered offers to Xabi and his entourage, the manager decided on Friday that he will be staying at Bayern Leverkusen come next season. When asked about his future after Leverkusen’s match on Friday, Xabi said “I tried to take my own decisions, that they are the right ones and now I feel like this is the right one to keep in this club and keep improving and developing.

This is my first season as a coach in a pro team, this is the first season complete so I think I still have time to try things.” This comes as a shock to the footballing world, especially for all the major clubs that now have to continue the search for their new manager.
