Super Bowl 59 is almost here! With the big game just a few days away, football fans are eager to watch the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles rematch on the country’s biggest stage! Regardless of the outcome, it’s not too early to speculate about which teams might be eyeing the Lombardi Trophy this time next year. Here are three likely Super Bowl LX matchups that could happen in the NFL next season.
The defending champions will likely be back in the Super Bowl win or lose. Patrick Mahomes and company will never be counted out after being in the league’s biggest game over the past three years. Meanwhile, the Detroit Lions fell just short of the Super Bowl despite winning 15 games.
While Detroit might feel the effect of losing Ben Johnson and Aaron Glenn, the team’s Super Bowl window is still open and the talent on the roster is incredible. Just like the Baltimore Ravens, the Lions also have trouble getting to the big game. 2025-26 feels like the season that the Motor City gets its team on the country’s biggest stage.
The Baltimore Ravens have been favorites to make it to the Super Bowl for a few years now. Every season, the team usually falls short to either the Buffalo Bills or Kansas City Chiefs. Could 2025-26 be the year that Baltimore makes it to the big game? The Ravens have one of the league’s best quarterbacks in Lamar Jackson, an elite running back in Derrick Henry, and plenty of defensive stars. It’s not a matter of if, but when for Baltimore’s Super Bowl chance.
Meanwhile, the 49ers finished the 2024 season 6-11 due to many injuries. The team’s Super Bowl window could be closing fast. Fortunately, the team will have one of the league’s easiest schedules and the division-champion Los Angeles Rams could regress if Matthew Stafford retires. San Francisco was close to winning two Super Bowls in the 2020s decade, and it’s possible they will get a third chance.
This matchup might be a surprise but would be one of the most exciting Super Bowls in our lifetimes. While the Cincinnati Bengals missed the postseason this year, it’s quite possible they will be back for vengeance in 2025-26. Joe Burrow had one of the greatest quarterback seasons anyone has seen in years, and with the off-season approaching, the team should have plenty of chances to fix one of the worst defenses in the NFL. The Bengals are the last AFC team to defeat Kansas City, and if they make the postseason, they could do it again.
Meanwhile, the Washington Commanders were the most shocking team of 2024, after going from one of the worst teams to winning 12 games. They continued their run by making it all the way to the NFC Championship Game. With the second year of Jayden Daniels’ young career, Washington should be geared up for another deep playoff run with a chance to make its first appearance in the big game since 1992.
