The Dallas Cowboys have a big offseason ahead of them. After finishing 7-10 during a 2024 season full of injuries, including quarterback Dak Prescott, Dallas is eager to get back into the playoffs and compete for a Super Bowl. While the Cowboys aren’t expected to have a lot of cap space, they will have enough to upgrade some positions on the team. While CeeDee Lamb has proven to be one of the league’s best wide receivers, the group could use a free agent to give Prescott another option to throw to. Could former Cowboys and current Buffalo Bills wide receiver Amari Cooper reunite with America’s Team?

Amari Cooper Could Reunite With Dallas Cowboys

The 33rd Team recently made predictions on where top free agent wide receivers could sign. Ian Valentino predicted that Amari Cooper could find his new home with the Dallas Cowboys. Valentino said, “Dak Prescott and Cooper combined for a tremendous four-year stretch during which Cooper averaged just under 1,000 yards and seven touchdowns a season. While Cooper had some issues with drops before his stint in Cleveland, he was a better playmaker than Dallas had in years until CeeDee Lamb showed up. The opportunity to pair Cooper with Lamb again should be enticing and affordable.”

The five-time Pro Bowler was drafted by the Oakland Raiders in 2015 where he became a star from the beginning. He recorded back-to-back 1,000 yard seasons to start his career. Cooper was traded to the Cowboys in 2018 midseason where he made an immediate impact. During his time in Dallas, Cooper racked up 3,168 yards, 21 touchdowns, and missed one game in three seasons.

Cooper found success after being traded to the Cleveland Browns in 2022. In his first two seasons in Cleveland, he once again recorded back-to-back 1,000 yard seasons while being a fan-favorite in the city. After struggling during the 2024 season, Cooper was traded to the Buffalo Bills. While he finished under 500 receiving yards for the first time in his career, he wasn’t upset as he was focused on winning.

Cooper Would Bring Reliability To WR2

Despite a down year in 2024, Cooper would still bring a lot to the Cowboys receiving room. He would step in as the #2 WR behind CeeDee Lamb and give Dak Prescott another target to throw to. He also likely won’t demand as much money. The 30-year-old would be a great replacement for Brandin Cooks, who is entering free agency.

End Of My Cowboys Rant

So what do you think? Does Amari Cooper’s return to Dallas make sense? Or should he explore other options like signing with Kansas City or Philadelphia to have a better chance at winning a Super Bowl? Personally, I would think a return to Dallas would help Cooper bounce back while giving Prescott a new receiver while recovering from his season-ending injury. A return to Dallas or an extension in Buffalo makes sense for the former Pro Bowler. While you are here, make sure to check out an article about fixing the NBA All-Star Game as well.
