After a terrible spell at Al-Hilal, Neymar is ready for his next move. Santos President, Marcelo Teixeira, made sure to welcome Neymar through social media.
Santos fans can finally be assured that Neymar is returning home to his boyhood club. The Brazilian is set to join the club soon, especially since he has finally left Saudi side, Al-Hilal.
Neymar has spent what could only be described as a disastrous time at Al-Hilal. The expensive deal didn’t meet anyone’s expectations, making people wait patiently for its end. Now, it’s finally over.
Neymar and Al-Hilal have agreed to a mutual contract termination, which leaves the 32-year-old available for free. Al-Hilal fans will probably be okay without Neymar, especially with his numbers with the club.
The expensive deal witnessed Neymar moving from Paris Saint-Germain to the Saudi Pro League’s Al-Hilal for over $95 million. Since joining the club in August 2023, Neymar only appeared in seven matches. His time there was plagued with injuries.
Now that he is free, Neymar is set to join his boyhood club, Santos, once again. According to several reports, Neymar agreed to a massive pay cut to secure this move.
His salary there won’t compare to what he received at Al-Hilal. His salary at the Saudi side was rumored to be around $104 million per year.
The move was confirmed by Santos’ president, Marcelo Teixeira, who welcomed the Brazilian star back.
Santos’ president, Teixeira, shared an emotional message on his Instagram account as he welcomed Neymar back. The message read:
“The time has come, Neymar. The time has come for you to return to your people. To your home, to our beloved club. Welcome back, Ney boy!… Come and be happy again in the sacred jersey. The Santos nation awaits you with open arms.”
This is the perfect ending for Neymar’s extraordinary tale in soccer. After making his name with Santos and winning six titles, he can pay it back. The move will hopefully see Neymar enjoying soccer once again.
Fans of his boyhood club will also hope that Neymar stays away from the several injuries he endured while playing for Al-Hilal.
Now that Neymar is returning to Santos, fans of the Brazilian will be hoping to see him return to his former glory. It’s possible, especially with older players like Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi performing well.
If Neymar managed to steer away from injuries, he might be able to impress during his new journey at Santos. He already said he wants a chance to play for Brazil in the World Cup 2026 to achieve glory with the national team.
Neymar’s return to his boyhood club won’t just benefit the club but also him. He will have the chance to play in familiar surroundings. If he stays fit, he can help Santos find glory and make Brazil’s squad for the World Cup.
