Another weekend in SEC basketball saw one of the best teams in the country, Auburn, go down at home, while Texas A&M picked up a road win in Missouri.

Florida Is Final Four Contenders

Florida did what most teams haven’t done all year in the SEC by winning on the road at Auburn, all without one of their top scorers.

This was Florida’s first road win over a No. 1 team in school history. Not only did Florida beat Auburn, but they also dominated them in one of the top arenas in the sport, known as “The Jungle,” Neville Arena.

Florida is 5-3 in Quad 1 opportunities this season. With one of the best wins in the sport by defeating Auburn, Florida is for real, and so are their chances at competing for a Final Four spot.

Texas A&M Heroics On Road

Wade Taylor IV. That’s the name. Whenever the Aggies need a bucket, he’s always in the right place at the right time. The Tigers had been undefeated at home this season and have been playing as well as anybody in the country, not just in the SEC. Taylor hit a shot from the wing with 1.8 seconds left to secure the win and add another impressive victory to their resume.

Texas A&M, known for their defense, has been just as impressive winning games this season when the pressure is on them. Led by Buzz Williams, who is one of the most underrated coaches in the country. The Aggies are real and pose a big threat to make major noise in March.

Ole Miss Survives LSU

One of the best games of the night took place in Baton Rouge. Ole Miss won at the buzzer to defeat LSU in a game that LSU had led the entire way. With just over three minutes to go, LSU had an 11-point lead and seemed poised to secure an upset win.

Ole Miss had other ideas, as the Rebels hit a tip-in at the buzzer to knock off LSU. While the play was reviewed, it was confirmed that the ball was outside the cylinder, and the call was eventually reversed.

Chris Beard and company are playing some of the best basketball at just the right time. The Rebels are proving to be a tough defensive challenge, creating havoc with their pressure. In March, that kind of play wins games. It’s a big win for the Rebels and a testament to their impressive season.

Alabama Survives Late Surge In Fayetteville

Arkansas is playing as well as anyone right now in the SEC, with back-to-back wins over Kentucky and Texas. The Hogs came into the game against Alabama with some serious momentum. If one thing is clear about John Calipari, he traditionally plays his best ball in February and March. Although his team had to rally from double digits, it wasn’t enough.

The fight and effort were there, but Alabama made the necessary plays and figured out how to win on the road.

It’s been obvious all season long, the recipe is there for Alabama and Nate Oats to make another run in the tournament. Last year, Alabama made a Final Four appearance, and this season they are every bit as good as they were a year ago. Watch out for the Tide!
