Day three was quarterfinals day at the SEC Women’s Basketball Tournament at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, South Carolina. Here is a look at all four contests:

Chloe Kitts Dominates

South Carolina dominated Vanderbilt 84-63 in the quarterfinals of the SEC Women’s Basketball Tournament yesterday. Chloe Kitts led the Gamecocks with a career-high 25 points and 10 rebounds, while MiLaysia Fulwiley added 15 points off the bench.

The Gamecocks came out strong, shooting 67% from the field in the first half to build a 48-23 lead at the break. Vanderbilt fought back in the second half, cutting the lead to five points with 4:22 left. However, South Carolina regrouped and outscored the Commodores 16-0 in the final minutes to secure the win.

Vanderbilt was led by Mikayla Blakes with 20 points, Khamil Pierre with 17 points and 10 rebounds, and Iyana Moore with 16 points. Despite the loss, the Commodores await their NCAA Tournament seeding, boasting a 22-10 overall record.

Oklahoma Outlast Kentucky

Oklahoma pulled off a thrilling 69-65 win over Kentucky in the quarterfinals of the SEC Women’s Basketball Tournament yesterday. Raegan Beers led the Sooners with 20 points and 11 rebounds, while Payton Verhulst added 16 points and Sahara Williams chipped in with 13 points.

The game was a back-and-forth affair, with Kentucky’s Georgia Amoore scoring 29 points to lead the Wildcats. Clara Strack chipped in 12 points and 16 rebounds and Dazia Lawrence 11. However, Oklahoma’s strong team performance and clutch free-throw shooting down the stretch secured the win.

The 12th-ranked Wildcats (22-7) most likely have done enough to lock up hosting in the first and second rounds of the NCAA Tournament. Now they return to Lexington and wait for Selection Sunday to see their fate.

This victory marks Oklahoma’s ninth straight win and sets them up for a semifinal showdown with top-seeded South Carolina today at 4:30 p.m. ET on ESPN2.

Texas Gets First SEC Tournament Victory

Texas secured a hard-fought 70-63 win over Ole Miss in the quarterfinals of the SEC Women’s Basketball Tournament yesterday. Madison Booker led the Longhorns with 19 points, while KK Deans sparked a late comeback attempt for Ole Miss with 20 points.

The game was a nail-biter, with Ole Miss cutting the deficit to four points in the fourth quarter. However, Texas held on, thanks in part to Shay Holle’s clutch three-pointer. The Longhorns also got significant contributions from Kyla Oldacre (12 points), Taylor Jones (10 points), and Rori Harmon (nine assists).

Ole Miss, meanwhile, saw strong performances from Madison Scott (14 points, nine rebounds, seven assists) and Kennedy Todd-Williams, but ultimately came up short. The Rebels will now await their fate for the 2025 NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament, with Selection Sunday set for March 16.

Aneesah Morrow Was Unstoppable

LSU had a phenomenal win over Florida in the quarterfinals of the SEC Women’s Basketball Tournament yesterday, scoring a program-record 101 points. Aneesah Morrow was unstoppable, scoring 36 points on 15-21 shooting, along with 14 rebounds, securing her 27th double-double this season and 101st of her career.

Mikaylah Williams also had a great game, scoring 16 points and dishing out a career-high eight assists. The Tigers’ dominant performance was capped off by Mjracle Sheppard’s 12 points and Kailyn Gilbert’s 10 points.

Kim Mulkey’s LSU Tigers had a big win last night, defeating Florida 101-87 in the conference tournament. However, what’s notable is that Mulkey was dealing with a personal issue, having recently suffered an unexpected death in her family. Despite this, she was on the bench for the game, although associate head coach Bob Starkey took on more responsibilities, acting as the head coach for the evening. Flau’jae Johnson missed the game with shin inflammation.

Florida’s Liv McGill led the Gators with 16 points and six assists, but it wasn’t enough to overcome LSU’s potent offense. The Tigers will now face No. 2 seed Texas in the semifinals today at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN2.
