It’s officially Super Bowl week! The 2024 season has been a roller coaster and it’s down to two of the best in the NFL. The Chiefs and the Eagles are heading into a rematch on Sunday night. What does each team bring to the table, and who will hoist the Lombardi Trophy when it’s all said and done?

The Philadelphia Eagles’ Road To Super Bowl LIX

The Eagles are walking into this game with an enormous chip on their shoulders. Flashback to two years ago, when Jalen Hurts was in his third NFL season and becoming a bonafide superstar. Hurts was 306/460 on the year, with 3701 yards, 22 touchdowns, and only six interceptions. The Eagles had found their guy.

Philadelphia’s coach Nick Sirianni was in his second year leading the charge. He brought a much-needed culture change to this team and got them their first 10-win season since 2017. Nothing could go wrong for the Birds, until they met the Chiefs in Super Bowl LVII. One controversial holding call shattered their dreams in an instant.

What’s Different For Philly Now?

The Eagles went into a bit of a spiral in 2023. They started the season off hot, going 10-1 through 12 weeks. Then they’d go 1-5 through the rest of the year, and be eliminated in the Wild Card Round of the NFL Playoffs. They were humbled in a major way, and frankly, it was the fuel they needed.

They went into the 2024 offseason and made a splash, signing free agent running back Saquon Barkley. They also addressed the defensive issues, bringing in Cooper DeJean, Quinyon Mitchell, and Zack Baun. They were ready to compete, but off to a slow start, going 2-2 through the first four weeks.

Saquon Barkley has proven to be the missing key to the Eagles' success.

The Eagles came out of the week five bye with pure fire. They won 10 straight games, and have only lost once since then. Saquon Barkley turned into a super weapon, breaking 2,000 yards in the season, along with 15 total touchdowns.

The Eagles would go into the playoffs and stomp the Green Bay Packers and Washington Commanders. They’d also narrowly defeat the Los Angeles Rams en route to this Super Bowl rematch.

The Kansas City Chiefs’ Road To Super Bowl LIX

The Chiefs started the journey to a three-peat by defeating the Eagles in Super Bowl LVII.

The Chiefs have become the newest dynasty in the NFL. In 2022, They had already made five conference championship appearances. They had gone 1-1 in the Super Bowl in that span and were looking to turn things around. KC faced off with the Eagles and walked away with another ring.

The following season saw the Chiefs go 11-6 and play in the wild card round for just the second time in Patrick Mahomes’ career. After defeating the Miami Dolphins in freezing temperatures, they barely skated by the Buffalo Bills and the Baltimore Ravens. KC would then defeat the San Francisco 49ers (again), and go back-to-back in the Super Bowl.

What’s Different For Kansas City Now?

The Chiefs have won a Super Bowl rematch already, defeating the 49ers for the second time last year.

Taking a look at this season, 2024 saw the Chiefs at their worst, but still winning games. In the regular season, 11 of their 15 wins came by less than 10 points. The first time they exceeded 30 points in a game was in the Conference Championship. This team played down to their opponents and snuck away with a win every week. Now they have their toughest challenge of the year.

The Chiefs’ offense is not the juggernaut it’s been in the past. The addition of wide receiver Xavier Worthy has been a good move for them. They picked up Hollywood Brown and DeAndre Hopkins to help out as well.

The defense is still unbelievable under coordinator Steve Spagnuolo, who is as sharp as ever. This team isn’t the scariest on paper, but their chemistry and game-planning are untouchable.

Who Wins The Big Game?

This is the second time Jalen Hurts and Patrick Mahomes will face off. Who will hold the Lombardi Trophy?

No team in the Super Bowl era has ever won three in a row, and they’re on the precipice of it. Tom Brady and the Patriots were special in the longevity of their dominance, and no one should be expected to repeat that. Patrick Mahomes is in year eight, Travis Kelce is in year 12, and the dynasty might be winding down soon. This is their shot at the record books.

The Eagles are looking for revenge here. Philly had its heart broken in Super Bowl LVII, and the fans need this one. The Chiefs are no strangers to breaking hearts twice, but this Eagles team is scarier than ever before.

The Chiefs are the dynasty. They are the golden child of the NFL, and the story of a three-peat would be tremendous. The story of an underdog getting its revenge is even better. The Eagles are a team that hits the gas and never slows down. Saquon Barkley is the monster they were missing last time around. Philadelphia has the better team, and barring any controversy, they’re getting their moment.

End Of My Super Bowl Rant

The Big Game is set to be an unbelievable matchup. These two teams put on a great show two years ago, and there’s no doubt they’ll do it again. Are the Eagles going to get their revenge, or will the Chiefs make history?
