Growing up some three hours away from Arrowhead Stadium, Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark said she used to attend at least one Kansas City Chiefs game a year.

So in a way, it wasn’t overly surprising to see the reigning WNBA Rookie of the Year sporting the red and yellow of her favorite NFL team at Sunday’s AFC divisional-round bout between the Chiefs (15-2) and Houston Texans (10-7). What likely was surprising, though, were her seats.

Clark was shown during the ABC broadcast sitting in a suite reserved for the family of Kansas City tight end Travis Kelce — the same suite often shared by his superstar girlfriend Taylor Swift. Clark and Swift were seen sitting together during parts of the contest, and were even shown hugging after Kelce’s 11-yard touchdown reception early in the fourth quarter.

‘A Swiftie, Through and Through’

“I had family in Kansas City, and I grew up in Des Moines, Iowa, which is only three hours from Kansas City,” Clark told Travis and Jason Kelce during an episode of their “New Heights” podcast earlier this year. “That’s just the closest NFL team. … My brother loved Tony Gonzalez. We would, like, go to one game a year growing up because my cousin was down in Kansas City.”

Though clearly the most visible, Saturday’s meeting between Clark and Swift wasn’t the first time the two have connected in person. Kelce explained during an episode of his podcast that he and Swift met the new resident of Indianapolis last summer during a stop on Swift’s Eras Tour at Lucas Oil Stadium.

“She was into the show, for sure,” the younger Kelce told his brother on the podcast. “She was there with her mom and a few friends. She’s a Swiftie, through and through.”

Season-Best Performance For Kelce

For his part, Kelce had his best performance of the season in his team’s 23-14 victory, netting a season-high 113 receiving yards on seven catches. The 10-time Pro Bowler also scored what amounted to the game-winning score on an 11-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Patrick Mahomes early in the fourth quarter. The score made it 20-12 at the time.

Mahomes’s wife Brittany, meanwhile, who is perhaps Swift’s most constant counterpart in the Arrowhead suites, didn’t attend the game after giving birth to the couple’s third child last Sunday. Mahomes improved to 16-3 in postseason play with the win, tying Joe Montana for the second-most playoff wins by a starting quarterback in NFL history. Tom Brady holds the record at 38 wins.

“It’s been a special run,” Mahomes told reporters after the game.

Playoff Picture For Chiefs

Saturday’s contest was Kansas City’s first of the 2025 playoffs after having earned a first-round bye. The Chiefs will take on the winner of No. 2 Buffalo vs. No. 3 Baltimore in the AFC Championship on Jan. 26. But history isn’t exactly on Kansas City’s side when it comes to its quest to win an unprecedented third straight Super Bowl. That’s because back-to-back Super Bowl winners have gone on to advance to the conference finals three times in NFL history, but none of won.
