The Elimination Chamber is one of the most dangerous match types in WWE history. The bumps that are taken are super scary, and like Mick Foley says, “If it looks like it hurts, that probably means it did”. There is one injury that occurred during an entrance, and to be honest, it was scary. The incident that happened in the 2010 Elimination Chamber PPV with The Undertaker.
What Happened With Undertaker?

It was the 2010 Elimination Chamber PPV. It was in a match for the World Heavyweight Championship, and it was in a match with R-Truth, John Morrison, Rey Mysterio, CM Punk, and Chris Jericho. Undertaker was making his entrance like he normally would as the deadman. Pyrotechnics and fire kept going off, and the backstage technician messed up.
Undertaker was engulfed in these flames and his leather coat caught fire. He had to go off the script and strip it off quickly to get into the chamber. The commentator had to go off the script and hide by mentioning, Undertaker was ready for a fight.
Undertaker suffered really bad first and second-degree burns. It was obvious he was in so much pain punching the glass. He was pouring multiple bottles of water on himself to ease the pain. The doctor was checking in on him constantly throughout the match and luckily Undertaker was fit to compete. Especially with the big angle of Shawn Michaels superkicking him and setting up their Streak vs Career match at Wrestlemania 26.
What Happened To The Backstage Technician That Made The Error

As for what happened to the Technician responsible for the Undertaker getting burned, he was fired. This was even confirmed by the Undertaker in his podcast when he said the following
“I told the guy [during rehearsals], I said, ‘The pyro is too close to me,'” Calaway stated. “He came back with, ‘No, I think it was just a draft in the building.’ The person that was responsible was not in the arena by the time that match was over, we’ll put it that way, nor have I seen that person since.”
Why WWE Got Lucky Here

Honestly, WWE is lucky that Undertaker’s injuries weren’t worse. Rewatching the clip of him engulfed, he could have easily suffered way worse injuries. That match could have been canceled with Undertaker as the World Heavyweight Champion, or having to find a last-minute replacement. If his burns were worse, he probably would have had to miss WrestleMania, and then that Streak vs Career Match wouldn’t have happened.
If that happened, what would Shawn Michaels’s last match have looked like? Maybe he would get another year in the ring and that match gets pushed to WrestleMania 27. Luckily, Undertaker is one of the toughest and most dedicated pro wrestlers in the business and wrestled the match with the burns. One thing is for sure, this injury is the definition of scary.
