NFL teams have a natural progression of failures and successes. Health, young talent, great signings, whatever it may be, these teams are predicted to increase their win totals the most.

No. 1 NFL Most Improved – San Francisco 49ers 14-8 (+8 Wins)
The San Francisco 49ers should easily have the most improved record next season. They had the most injuries of any team last season, at one point down to their fifth-string running back. The injury bug hit them on both sides of the ball, ranking 30th in offensive and 31st in defensive-adjusted games lost, totalling more than any other team. San Francisco also has a favorable opening schedule, not facing a team that finished about .500 last season until Week 8. The 49ers were legitimate threats going into last season, so if they can stay healthy this season, they will be intimidating again.
No. 2 NFL Most Improved – New England Patriots 9-8 (+5 Wins)
The New England Patriots went into last year starting quarterback Jacoby Brissett. After a 1-4 start, they changed course and started rookie QB Drake Maye. Despite the worst offensive line per profootballnetwork.com, Maye was able to give glimpses of his potential. Patriots’ running back Rhamondre Stevenson was also able to break through despite the O-line. If this team can fix the line and add a receiver in the offseason, one could expect a quick turnaround from New England.
No. 3 NFL Most Improved – Atlanta Falcons 13-4 (+5 Wins)
The Atlanta Falcons have the benefit of playing in a soft NFC South. After a difficult opening few weeks, the Falcons should find a roll, especially with the competition level after Week 3 taking a sustained dip. Atlanta gave quarterback Kirk Cousins too much of a leash last season, only getting rookie QB Michael Penix Jr in for five games. Penix is expected to take a step forward, and with the team already rumored to have receivers and pass rushers in mind, the Falcons are a dark horse this upcoming season.
End Of My Top NFL Most Improved Rant
All three of these teams are not necessarily Super Bowl threats, but fans of each have a season to look forward to. Predictions have the Falcons defeating the Rams in the Wild Card round and losing to the Eagles in the Divisional. The 49ers are predicted a similar fate, beating the Green Bay Packers in the Wild Card to lose to the Lions in the Divisional. The Patriots are not expected to make the playoffs, but fans should still be excited. With a five-win increase and exciting football down the stretch of the regular season, the Patriots may finally be on the upswing after years of embarrassment post-Tom Brady.
