The Winnipeg Jets have had an outstanding season, chasing a spot in the playoffs. With goaltender Connor Hellebuyck, they are once again facing the chance at the cup. Hellebuyck is also facing the possibility of making NHL history in wins. The question as to whether he will reach it this season is still unknown.
Connor Hellebuyck Has The Chance To Break Or Tie Two Records
Connor Hellebuyck is a MONSTER.

He has recorded a .920+ in 30 of his 51 games played this season — 58.8% of his games played have been above .920 SV% 😵💫
He leads the NHL with 30 games at .920+, with the second place goaltender being EIGHT games behind, at 22.

Hellebuyck had played in 50 games for the Jets this season. He has 38 wins and is only 10 away from breaking an NHL record. The record for the single season most wins by a goaltender is shared between Martin Brodeur and Braden Holtby. The Jets have 15 games left in the regular season, which gives
Hellebuyck has a chance to meet this record. Looking at his rate of wins to losses, he could be one game shy of breaking or tying it. The veteran goaltender has had an impressive career, and adding this record to his list of accomplishments would be outstanding.
There is a second record that he could meet or possibly break, although this might not be the season. Brodeur has a record of starting 78 games in one season, while Holtby had 66. He will not meet this record even if he were to start the last 15 games of the season.
Winnipeg’s Veteran Goaltender Has Met The Record Once
Hellebuyck has tallied impressive stats throughout his 10-year run in the NHL. During the 2017-2018 season, he recorded 44 wins, which is his career high. During the 2021-2022 season, he started 66 games for the Jets. This puts him at matching Holtby’s record, but he has not met it since. In the 10 years that Hellebuyck has been in the league, he has played 555 games and won 313 games.
The outcome of the games does not entirely fall on Hellebuyck. If he wishes to pursue this record, then it becomes a full-team goal. He needs defensemen who are willing to block shots and help prevent chances of shots on goal. The Jets added defenseman Luke Schenn during last week’s trade. Adding Schenn will help Hellebuyck in the net.
Simply dominant… 😳

Hellebuyck Has A Chance At The Another Vezina Is Increasing.
Hellebuyck was also chosen to play in the Four Nations Tournament for Team USA. He was named the starting goaltender and continued to shine with each game. During the final match against Team Canada, the goaltender had 24 saves. Regardless of Team USA’s 3-2 overtime loss, the goals he gave up were indeed not his fault. Overall, he performed well out of all four participating teams.
His past accolades define the kind of asset he is to his team. The goaltender made it to the Four Nations and made multiple appearances during the NHL All-Stars. He was a part of the NHL All-Star game for four years. NHL Second All-Star Team for one year and two years for the NHL First All-Star Game. He has been an NHL Vezina Finalist four times.
Hellebuyck will likely win the Vezina Trophy this year for his impressive season. If he were to take the trophy home, he would become the first goalie to win it in consecutive seasons. The last goaltender to achieve this was Martin Brodeur in 2008.
End Of My Jets Rant
He is also in the talk for potentially winning the Hart Trophy at the end of this season. No other goaltender has won the Hart Trophy since Carey Price in 2015. If another goaltender were to win the Hart, it’s no question that it should be Hellebuyck.
The following 15 season games will be interesting to watch as Hellebuyck approaches meeting the record. Looks like Ovechkin is not the only one chasing a goal.
