Youssoufa Moukoko’s age has been surrounded by doubt. The Borussia Dortmund player has to face serious allegations.
In shocking news, the real age of Borussia Dortmund‘s player, Youssoufa Moukoko, is under question. The player is currently on loan from Borussia Dortmund to OGC Nice. The controversy surrounding Youssoufa Moukoko began after a man claimed that the player was lying about his actual age. Since then, fans have been discussing this interesting development.
What Exactly Happened Regarding Youssoufa Moukoko’s Age?
This age scandal started when a man named Joseph Moukoko came forward with revelations about the forward, who was supposed to be 20 years old. Joseph has been listed as Youssoufa’s father, but this changed. In his confessions, Joseph claimed that he wasn’t Youssoufa’s biological father.
He also claimed that he falsified Youssoufa’s age, reducing it by four years and that the player lied about his name. Apparently, making Youssoufa younger would increase his chances of playing European football.
“Knowing the legal consequences of false testimony, I declare under oath: Youssoufa Moukoko is not the biological son of my wife Marie Moukoko and me. He was not born on November 20th, 2004, in Yaounde. I obtained a fake birth certificate for him in Yaounde, then went to the embassy, obtained a passport for him, and brought him to Germany as my son.
Joseph stated in his confession that Youssoufa was actually born on July 19th, 2000. However, we reduced his age by four years, so the papers show he was born on November 20th, 2004.
How Did Youssoufa Moukoko’s Age Come Into Light?
The doubt surrounding Youssoufa Moukoko’s real age started when the German TV channel ProSiebe released a documentary film. Currently, all of Youssoufa’s records are under question since if the allegations are true, he doesn’t deserve any of them. If the allegations were true, the player would be 24 rather than 20.
The Borussia Dortmund player is the youngest Bundesliga debutant and scorer, the youngest German international to play in a World Cup, and the youngest Champions League debutant. These new claims aren’t the first time that Youssoufa’s age was investigated.
Last year, some German journalists from the newspaper Bild tried to investigate Youssoufa’s origins in Cameroon. They couldn’t find his birth certificate, but they did find that a boy named Youssoufa Mohamadou was born in 2000. His father is Ousman Mohamadou, a local taxi driver.
Borussia Dortmund‘s Reaction To The Claims
After the allegations were made, Borussia Dortmund released a statement addressing them.
“Regarding Youssoufa Moukoko, the biological parents and birth date are derived from official identification documents and birth records issued by a German authority. These documents remain valid today and serve as the basis for player registration and club authorizations, whether domestic or international, including teams like the German U-21 national team,” the statement stated.
The club’s statement then goes on.
“Additionally, the player and his biological parents, in these official documents, confirmed the accuracy of the information in sworn statements during legal proceedings. This factual status is decisive for us, the German Football Association, and the player’s current club.”
What If The Allegations Were True?
If these allegations about Youssoufa are true, many things could happen. For starters, the player could possibly be banned. In addition, all the records he broke would no longer be registered under his name. While Borussia Dortmund currently trusts Youssoufa, this could change if the claims are proven.
It has been made clear that Joseph, the man behind the allegations, had previously worked as a scout for the club. His involvement with the club and his claims might damage Borussia Dortmund’s reputation. Additionally, all clubs involved might be sanctioned. The question remains: What is Youssoufa Moukoko’s real age? We will have to wait to find out.
